Barbara Strain loves intimate scenes, especially florals and botanicals, but she is just as comfortable in the grand landscape. She was inspired by her mother, whose watercolors graced the walls of her home as a child. It is there that she developed a love for translating gorgeous scenes onto flat media. Since her retirement as an English teacher, Barbara has grown rapidly as a photographer under the tutelage of a number of outstanding, nationally recognized workshop leaders and at the side of her husband.

An outdoor lover and avid hiker, Barbara’s diminutive size requires “traveling light” while in the field. Whether working with full-sized digital cameras or smart phones, she is a great encourager and helps shorten the learning curve for the growing photophile.
